Simon Allen - Piano / Keyboard and Musical Director
Simon, originally from Staffordshire, has been playing keyboards/piano since the age of 10, acquiring many qualifications including A* GCSE and A Level Music and is currently studying for an Honours Degree in Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music at The Performance Academy, Newcastle College.
Before moving to the North East, Simon was a highly respected and sort after musician, performing in numerous musicals both in school and as a member of the Rugely Musical Theatre Company (RMTC), securing the prestigious position of Musical Director for two pantomimes. During this time, Simon also played synth/organ with the Weston Road Blues Band for five years, proving himself to be a versatile musician, as well as developing his skills in more traditional styles as a church organist for several parishes in Staffordshire, where his services are in high demand, building up an impressive reputation over seven years.
Since moving to Newcastle, Simon has been commissioned to compose music for a local multi-media designer, whilst also writing material for his own musical projects. He is continuing to build on his already impressive CV with his role in bands such as the "Strictly Smokin" Big Band and shows such as the Tynemouth Amateur Operatic Society production of "Gigi".
Simon joined GrooveLine in May 2006 and he is already proving himself to be a valuable asset to the band.
